Saint-Omer Court. The 30-year-old literature professor and novelist, Rama, attends the trial of Laurence Coly. From the trial, Rama plans to write a contemporary version of the myth of Medea from the case. But as the trial proceeds, everything goes completely unexpectedly and Rama, four months pregnant, will find herself confronted with her own experience of motherhood. Based on a real trial, Alice Diop aims to understand this case trial but also the experience of African migrants in post-colonial France. It is the first fictionalized feature film by Alice Diop.
