"Charley Thompson was abandoned by his mother as a child and lives only with his father, a warehouse clerk, with few conditions. At the age of 15, in order to continue her studies and have food, she arranges a summer job to assist Del, a horse-trainer. He crosses with Lean on Pete, an already finished racehorse, with whom he will develop a friendship. When this horse is condemned to death in a slaughterhouse in Mexico, Charlie decides to save him and to escape. Together they will begin a long, hard and moving journey across America.
